The meaning of the word Qw'oqw'elith'a.

The word Coqualeetza is anglicized from the Halq’eméylem word Qw’oqw’elith’a meaning ‘clubbing’. During the subsistence era, the Stó꞉lō washed clothing by clubbing it in the streams with a wooden mallet. The Coqualeetza site is known as a cleansing place.
